Flashbots have been controversial recently, as the technology is believed to threaten Ethereum’s censorship resistance. This is because Flashbots account for 48% of blocks that comply with government mandates.
While ethereum has been praised for meeting the demands of environmentalists, critics argue that the blockchain network trades off by increasing the centralization of validators and the increased likelihood of censorship of so-called greener blockchains.
A day after the merger, PoW proponents criticized Ethereum for increasing the likelihood of validator censorship as it transitioned from a proof-of-work (PoW) network to a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain. The data shows that more than 59% of the staked Ethereum (ETH) is held by four companies.
