El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, said on social media on Thursday that the country continued to buy 80 bitcoins on the dip, with an average price of $19,000 each.
“Bitcoin is the future, thank you for selling cheaply,” he said on social media, along with a screenshot of trading bitcoin.
According to Nayib Bukele, El Salvador last bought bitcoin back in May, when the Central American country paid $15.3 million for 500 bitcoins.
According to CoinDesk, El Salvador lost 55% of its bitcoin investments.
Before the deal, El Salvador held 2,301 bitcoins at a cumulative purchase cost of more than $101 million, but those investments are currently worth only $46.6 million.
