In the latest episode of the Decrypt podcast, former U.S. presidential candidate Andrew Yang described Washington’s cryptocurrency regulation as an oncoming train that cannot be stopped, leaving the only question to be, what’s in the cargo?
Andrew Yang said that whether the industry is ready or not, changes will come in the form of cryptocurrency regulation. The days of people saying there shouldn’t be any regulation in this area are coming to an end, so the question is what will the rules be? Will they be the smart guardrails that help manage risk and, frankly, mainstream some aspects of Web3? Or will they turn a blind eye to the positive aspects of innovation, employment, technological development, etc. and push these things overseas in large numbers? No one is quite sure where it will land.
Andrew Yang said that representatives from the cryptocurrency industry need to unite and stand on the same front as regulators work with Washington to ensure that regulation will not be harsh.
