One of the ETFs will invest in cash-settled bitcoin BTC -0.43% futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), according to an Aug. 11 filing.
The planned product, called the Ark 21Shares Active Bitcoin Futures ETF (ARKA), could also hold U.S. Treasuries, money market instruments and repurchase agreements.
A second proposed fund, the Ark 21Shares Active On-Chain Bitcoin Strategy ETF (ARKC), would likewise invest at least 25% in bitcoin futures contracts (ARKA), with the remainder in cash and cash equivalents.
Finally, the proposed Ark 21Shares Digital Assets and Blockchain Strategies ETF (trading symbol ARKD) will allocate to bitcoin futures contracts, or ARKA, and stocks of companies in the blockchain, digital assets and fintech industries.
Empowered Funds, a subsidiary of white-label ETF platform Alpha Architect, is listed as investment advisor to the proposed fund, with 21Shares and Ark Invest acting as associate advisors.
