Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Global (COIN) will soon require its customers in Canada, Japan and Singapore to provide recipient information for cryptocurrency transfers.
For Canadian users, sending more than 1,000 Canadian dollars ($798) in cryptocurrency to financial entities or other cryptocurrency exchanges will require the recipient’s name and address, and the rules will go into effect on April 4.
For users in Singapore, all cryptocurrency transfers from a Coinbase user’s exchange wallet to an external address require the recipient’s full name and country of residence, with regulations effective April 1. For Japanese users, according to the rules set by the Japan Cryptocurrency Exchange Association (JVCEA), all transfers of crypto assets to recipients outside of Japan must provide the recipient’s name, address and destination wallet. The new regulations will take effect on April 1.
