David Marcus, former head of cryptocurrency at Meta, announced the launch of Lightspark, a company that explores, builds, and expands Bitcoin’s functionality and utility. The first step will be to explore Bitcoin’s Lightning Network.
Lightspark also closed an undisclosed funding round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Paradigm, with participation from Thrive Capital, Coatue, Felix Capital, Ribbit Capital, Matrix Partners and Zeev Ventures.
David Marcus said: “During economic downturns is a great time to focus on building and creating value with people with a sense of purpose, and we’re excited to learn more about the Lightning Network and work with the community. We will share more information about our project as we progress.
