According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri’s recent revelations on social media, users do not have to pay any fees associated with posting or sharing NFTs on Instagram.
He further elaborated on how the integration of NFTs on the Instagram platform works, stating that users can share NFTs they create or purchase in their Instagram feeds, stories and messages, initially making these features available to a very small number of US users. He suggested that NFTs could be used as a way for some creators to make a living in the future, or that users could trade NFTs directly on Instagram in the future.
Adam Mosseri also pointed to the disconnect between the decentralized nature of Web 3 technologies such as NFTs and blockchain, stating that Instagram is a centralized platform, but Instagram wants to make sure it can learn from the community, adding: Although we are a Centralized platform, but we want to make sure we can figure out how to embrace the principles of distributed trust and decentralization.
