Artificial intelligence ecosystem Multiverse Labs has launched a new metaverse city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move the UAE says could strengthen tourism in the region.
The new metaverse city is called the Sharjahverse, and Multiverse Labs describes it as a realistic, physically accurate metaverse that covers an area of 1,000 square miles in the country.
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) is the main government agency charged with promoting tourism in the country, and the metaverse city is supported by the department.
Sharjah Business and Tourism Development Authority Chairman Khalid Jasim Al Midfa said the new initiative aims to transform mass market tourism towards a sustainable next generation.
