The bedrock edition of Optimism is about to be released, laying the groundwork for Ethereum’s path to a superchain. Optimism, the leading Ethereum scalability solution, is gearing up for the highly anticipated Bedrock launch, a major upgrade that will lay the foundation for Ethereum’s transition to a superchain.
Essentially, a hyperchain is a set of interconnected chains that share a common software stack and share the same security properties, enabling them to communicate and collaborate seamlessly.
Bedrock’s implementation is expected to significantly reduce transaction fees and reduce deposit times to less than a minute. To ensure maximum security, Optimism (OP) CEO and co-founder Karl Floersch revealed that a two-step withdrawal process will also be introduced.
The bedrock upgrade for the Optimism mainnet is scheduled for June 6th at 12:00PM ET. During this time, the network will be temporarily down for approximately two to four hours, causing all transactions, withdrawals and deposits to be suspended.
“This marks a major milestone for the OP stack and brings us one step closer to our vision for the Superchain,” Floersch emphasized.
The Optimism team has been working on the development and deployment of Bedrock, focusing on enhancing the scalability and overall performance of Ethereum.
By harnessing the power of interconnected chains and shared infrastructure, Optimism aims to solve the ongoing challenges of high fees and slow BTC -0.57%-block-and-sends-inscriptions-based-on-transaction-time/">transaction times on the Ethereum network.
With the imminent release of Bedrock, the Ethereum community is full of anticipation, as this upgrade has great potential to unlock new opportunities and use cases on the platform. Developers and users alike are eagerly anticipating the increased efficiency and reduced costs that Bedrock promises to deliver.
In addition to scalability improvements, Bedrock’s enhanced security measures will increase user confidence. The introduction of a two-step withdrawal process adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring funds are transferred safely without any compromise.
Optimism is committed to building a robust and scalable infrastructure, which has received high attention and support from industry insiders and investors. The project is backed by prominent venture capital firms and has attracted partnerships with leading DeFi protocols and exchanges.
As the Bedrock release approaches, the team at Optimism is hard at work preparing to make this landmark upgrade a reality. A temporary network shutdown is a necessary step to implement changes seamlessly and ensure a smooth transition for users.
The Optimism community is eager to unleash the full potential of the Ethereum Superchain vision, laying the foundation for a new era of blockchain scalability and efficiency.
