USPTO registered trademark attorney Mike Condudis revealed in a tweet today that the Premier League has officially filed two trademark applications with the USPTO designed to cover a variety of numbers Asset classes, including NFTs, cryptocurrencies, and digital token-related collectibles, including virtual clothing, footwear, and sports gear.
As cryptocurrencies gain popularity among clubs and players, the Premier League wants to agree to manage financial and cryptocurrency services related to clubs, football players.
It was previously rumored that the Premier League plans to push 20 clubs to launch NFTs and pay some of their players’ wages in cryptocurrency.
