Although SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, aka Crypto Mom, is optimistic about the growth of the cryptocurrency industry, she will by no means support saving the industry from the crisis.
On Friday, she claimed that the lack of such a mechanism is actually a force in the market. In an interview with Forbes, Peirce clarified that the SEC does not have the authority to be the “systemic risk regulator” and to decide which agencies require government guarantees.
Even so, however, she would not support such a measure against the crypto platforms facing trouble today — especially if they are irresponsibly over-leveraged.
