Web3 communication protocol WalletConnect is set to launch its native token, WCT, on Optimism. WalletConnect announced that registration for the WCT airdrop will open on September 24, with eligibility based on usage of the WalletConnect network.
WalletConnect CEO Houlgrave revealed that the initial supply of WCT will be capped at 1 billion tokens, with 18.5%, or 185 million tokens, allocated for the first-season airdrop. The airdrop will target WalletConnect’s end users, as well as wallets, applications, nodes, software development kits, and communities that have contributed to the success of WalletConnect.
In addition, WalletConnect posted on the X platform that WalletConnect Inc. has been rebranded to Reown. All tools and products, including AppKit and WalletKit, can now be found under the Reown name.
