While the crypto industry has seen strong funding over the past year, ad sponsorships during the Super Bowl and some companies promising products that are too good to be true, Jonathan Steinberg, CEO of asset manager WisdomTree, said on an earnings call Friday. But things have changed dramatically in recent months.
While some companies have struggled with the realities of regulation and risk management, and some have completely lost the trust of their customers and investors, for WisdomTree, the timing of this crypto winter has been very constructive and presents a lot of opportunities.
WisdomTree has already minted a dollar token, and the minting of a gold token is imminent, and expects to receive revenue from its digital asset plans starting in 2023, Steinberg said, declining to comment on specific forecasts.
