Dubai has formed a committee to track the latest developments in the digital economy, which is also expected to support Dubai’s rulers’ efforts to make Dubai a key city in a virtual world.
Sheikh Hamdan, chairman of the Dubai Executive Council (DEC), revealed that the council’s working group is already studying the key pillars and objectives of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.
According to a report, the strategy aims to “raise the contribution of the virtual world sector to Dubai’s economy to $4 billion by 2030”. The report also said that Dubai’s rulers want to increase the virtual world’s contribution to Dubai’s gross domestic product (GDP) to 1 percent.
