South Korea Statistics Office to Investigate Local Household Cryptocurrency Holdings

As the South Korean city of Busan is promoting the establishment of a digital asset exchange, the local statistics bureau is conducting an investigation into the ownership of virtual assets such as Bitcoin.

The South-East Korea Statistics Bureau will conduct a household financial well-being survey of 3,200 households in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam for 17 days from March 30 to April 15 in 2022, and will examine virtual assets held by households situation to be investigated.

The object of this investigation is mainly the currencies traded on South Korean virtual currency exchanges, including the most popular BTC, ETH, XRP, etc., but the specific scope has not been disclosed.
